VirtualBox , seamless mode

I have been test driving Innotek’s VirtualBox desktop virtualization software. Innotek was acquired by Sun Microsystems in February this year ( 2008 ) - Press release here. The OS support list if fairly complete for both host and guest operating systems and is the first virtualization product to support the Solaris Operating Systems as a host, both OpenSolaris and Solaris 10.
One of the most interesting features with VirtualBox is Seamless Mode available from the Guest OS’s “Machine” menu entry OR through the keyboard shortcut - Host Key + L. The keyboard shortcut is a toggle mode selection. In the screenshot below, the seamless mode is available in the machine running the ubuntu guest.
Once selected, virtual box is able to have windows that are displayed within the virtual machine appear side by side next to the windows of your host. In the screenshot below, the ubuntu guests gnome menu’s and the Brasero CD/DVD burning application is running along side with the Windows Paint application as if on the same host desktop. It does make for a better viewing and user experience. A pretty nifty feature indeed!
The Seamless mode is supported on Windows, Linux and Solaris guest operating systems.
