My audio mysteriously stopped working after an upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10. After spending some time it turns out my PCM settings were muted in gnome-volume-control. This can be started from the command line or from the audio icon in the task panel on top ( double click )

Mounting ssh shares for local access on ubuntu

I wanted to access my folders at my hosting provider for local access on my system. It’s very simple using just a few commands and viola, local access to remote ssh folders.
